The general route requires courses from at least four clusters, which gives breadth with a comparative, East Asian emphasis.

How this was chosen

We looked for programs that name a specialisation or a distinctive structure (clinics, research centres, dissertation routes, double degrees) and serve an international student body, and we limited the list to one program per school with no single country dominating. Evidence comes from official program pages quoted verbatim; no rankings are used or reproduced. The selection is not exhaustive and research is partial.

Criteria

  • Named specialisations or clearly distinct tracks
  • Research centres, clinics or dissertation routes stated on the official page
  • International orientation or teaching in English
  • Spread across countries rather than one dominant jurisdiction
  • Sponsorship plays no part

Limitations

Several candidate pages could not be read (University of Melbourne returned an access error; NUJS, Cambridge, Oxford, Columbia and the University of Cape Town pages were unreachable or too sparse), so strong programs may be missing, especially in Australia, India, Africa and Latin America. Ranking pages were not consulted, so no ranking positions are given. Facts such as fees and dates change; verify them with the provider.
