Who it is for
Compliance officers, human resources managers, policy analysts, engineers, healthcare managers and others use law in their work without being lawyers. Legal studies degrees, graduate certificates and short courses address this.
What these programs are
Master of Legal Studies, Master of Studies in Law, Juris Master and legal studies bachelor's degrees are designed for nonlawyers, as providers describe them. Certificates and short courses vary widely in depth and in credential.
What they are not
They are normally not a route to admission to practice, and they are not a substitute for legal advice from a qualified lawyer. A certificate of attendance is not an academic award.
